• Galaxy S21 series will have ‘native' Google Messages, but it's complicated

11 days ago - By MobileSyrup

During its Unpacked event on January 14th, Samsung took time to highlight a new partnership with Google that will seem some of the search giant's software tech gain prominence on Samsung's newest phones.
Samsung briefly brought in Hiroshi Lockheimer, Google's senior vice president of Android, Chrome, Chrome OS and Play, to talk about the partnership.
First, Lockheimer chatted about a deeper integration of Google Duo and Message on Samsung's S21 lineup. It sounds like Messages will be “native” on the S21 series, but it won't be the default. Along with including Google Messages on the S21...

Samsung's new Galaxy S21 lineup chooses refinement over reinvention

11 days ago - By PC World

Last year's Galaxy S20 lineup was such a massive change that Samsung introduced a new naming scheme to hammer home how consequential the upgrade was. This year, the Galaxy S21 series refines that vision at much lower prices. Samsung has launched three Galaxy S21 models in very similar sizes. The S21 and S21+ have 6.2-inch and 6.7-inch screens like their S20 predecessors , while the S21 Ultra is slightly smaller, 6.8 inches versus the S20 Ultra 's 6.9-inch screen. The top and bottom bezels are a bit slimmer as well to create a near-all-screen look, but all three models are essentially the...

Here's Why Samsung Removed The Charger From The Galaxy S21 Box

11 days ago - By Android Headlines

As you most definitely already know, Samsung has decided to remove the charger from the box. Starting with the Galaxy S21 series. Following the lead of Apple, with the iPhone 12 series last year. Meaning that the only things that are included in the box are the phone, the USB-C to USB-C cable and the SIM ejector tool.
But, why did Samsung make the decision to remove the wall charger from the Galaxy S21 box? Samsung's EVP and Head of Customer Experience, Patrick Chomet stated that "we discovered that more and more Galaxy users are reusing accessories they already have and making sustainable...

Samsung has pulled the covers off its flagship model for 2021, the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra. Launched alongside the Galaxy S21 and Galaxy S21+, it ushers in a range of new enhancements over the 2020 version. The Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra showcases Samsung's new design. It's not a huge shift overall and the major change was widely leaked so will come as no surprise - the frame expanding to spread over the camera on the rear. Rather than the camera being an island on the back, it's now better integrated into the edges of the device. That back is Gorilla Glass Victus, the toughest Gorilla...

Samsung's new Galaxy S21 Ultra supports the company's S Pen stylus. Support for the accessory has been a staple of Samsung's Galaxy Note smartphones for years, but this is the first time it's been supported in the company's Galaxy S-series. The stylus will be available as an optional $39.99 accessory, and Samsung says the S21 Ultra will also work with S Pens from other Galaxy Note or Galaxy Tab devices.
As for what you can use the stylus to do on the S21 Ultra, Samsung has outlined a range of familiar use cases. These include drawing, note-taking...

Here's how Samsung's Galaxy S21 compares to the iPhone 12

11 days ago - By The Verge

Samsung's Galaxy S-series 2021 updates are here, and they're debuting a little earlier in the year than usual. Interestingly, the Galaxy S21, S21 Plus, and S21 Ultra represent slightly diverging strategies for the devices. The S21 includes some cost-saving measures, like a polycarbonate back, to bring it closer to midrange. Meanwhile, Samsung has pulled out any remaining stops with its top-end S21 Ultra, loading it with five cameras and adding S Pen support.
To be sure, there are still plenty of flagship-level features on the 6.2-inch S21. Like the Plus and Ultra, it uses a top-of-the-line...

Here's how Samsung's Galaxy S21 compares to the Pixel 5, OnePlus 8T, and more

11 days ago - By The Verge

Samsung got its S21 flagship phones out into the world a little sooner than usual this year, and the Galaxy S21 base model will appeal to a lot of folks with its balance of flagship specs and a price well under $1,000. In this refresh of the S-series lineup it's the best choice for value, but how does it square up against its fellow Android competitors?
The OnePlus 8T, Google Pixel 5, and LG V60 are all highly capable challengers in their own right. Where the S21 aims to deliver a complete all-around package, some of its competitors have made tradeoffs for things like a bigger battery or a...

11 days ago - By Android Central

Samsung's 2021 flagship series has exciting upgrades in key areas.
After months of leaks, the Galaxy S21 series is now official. Like last year, there are three models in the series - the Galaxy S21, S21+ and S21 Ultra - with the biggest upgrades reserved for the Ultra variant. What is interesting this time is that the regular S21 starts off at $800, $200 less than what the Galaxy S20 launched at last year. That's the case for the rest of the models as well: the S21+ debuts at $1,000, and the S21 Ultra is $1,200, which means we're looking at a few new additions to the best Samsung phones...

There's no microSD card slot in any of this year's Galaxy S21 phones

11 days ago - By Android Central

Best answer: No. This year, Samsung is ditching microSD support, which has been a feature for many years. Luckily, the phones have at least 128GB of storage and you can still use a variety of devices and services to expand that even further.
Samsung's next flagship: Samsung Galaxy S21
    No microSD card for you!
Rumors started to surface right after the new year that some models in the S21 series wouldn't have any microSD card support. Other rumors suggested that only the Galaxy S21 Ultra would have it. Ultimately, Samsung left it out of all three models.
