    Days after news broke that the U.S. Commerce Department was banning American companies from selling components to ZTE for seven years, the Chinese device maker has issued its response.
    ZTE has said that the order from the U.S. Commerce Department's Bureau of Industry and Security is "unfairly imposing the most severe penalty" before completing an investigation. ZTE adds that the BIS has ignored ZTE's efforts to make things right by taking measures against the employees who might've been responsible for the incident and by immediately taking corrective measures.

    Just the other day, we passed along the news that the U.S. Commerce Department's Bureau of Industry Standards was reviving a U.S. export ban that prevents Chinese phone manufacturer ZTE from purchasing anything from the U.S. The ban runs to March 2025. Last year, ZTE was fined $1.19 billion by the U.S. for supplying goods and services to Iran and North Korea.
